Mod Podge Fabric Tattoos…easy on/off application! (Edited: APRIL FOOL’S!!)

EDITED TO ADD:  Happy April Fool’s!!!!  (More on that HERE!)

. . . . .

My kids received some Easter Eggs last weekend that had some little mini tattoos inside.  They love those vibrant and colorful tattoos but the rule in our house is that they have to apply them in a place where they are hidden by their clothing.  And that’s because when those things start wearing off, it no longer looks like cute butterflies and super heroes…..it just looks — dirty.  And like they haven’t bathed in 13 days….eek!  And I know you can rub them off and/or use polish remover, etc…..but I somehow always forget about those dang things and then we arrive somewhere, like church (or family pictures), I suddenly realize that those once really cute and colorful tattoos are now nasty brown blobs smeared all over their arms and legs!

So, here’s my solution…

Mod Podge Fabric Tattoos…with an easy on/off application!

Just cut any shape or design out of fabric (the options are endless!) and then add an even layer of Mod Podge directly on the skin.  Then, place the fabric right on top.

Next, cover the fabric and the surrounding skin with another very generous coat of Mod Podge!  In fact, the THICKER the layer, the better!!!

And if you get a little messy with the Mod Podge, no biggee…it dries clear in just a few minutes!!!

Once your kids are ready for a different tattoo, simply peel it right off (think of grade school when you covered your hand in Elmer’s glue and then peeled it off) and then start again!  And yeah, there’s globs of dried Mod Podge you’ll have to scrub off their skin which might remind you of the original tattoos I mentioned at the beginning of this post, but hey, at least this stuff is clear! ;)

Oh, and one more thing…

.

.

.

Another small piece of advice before beginning your project…

.

.

.

Something you’ll need to remember each and EVERY time you apply your tattoos!

Be sure to always remember to….

APRIL FOOL’S!!!!!!!

Happy April 1st, friends!!!!!  You know I can’t help having a little fun on this day, Every. Single. Year!  Hahaha!!!  I don’t know why I insist on tricking people every April Fool’s……but I get such a kick out of it! (Here’s some of the April Fool’s Day craft tutorials from the past that I have tried to convince you are real, and sure enough…..I always trick a few of you readers into thinking I’m absolutely bonkers!!!)

But even though these tattoos aren’t such a terrible idea in theory, they really are a bad idea!  Smearing Mod Podge was a mess and then peeling the stuff off after we were done with the pictures was almost as annoying as the original temporary tattoos that kids use all the time!  Oh, and once they twisted their arm or disrupted the dried Mod Podge, it puckered the tattoo and it started peeling up…….so this is definitely just a prank craft idea, nothing more!!!! ;)

Ahhhh……April Fool’ Day is so silly — but we have fun with it!

. . . . .

In fact, Elli and Connor came up with their own friendly and harmless prank to pull on their teachers at school today…..and they were SO EXCITED about it!  They came up with the idea to tell their teachers they made some goodies last night at home with their mom (that’s me!) and they made extra and wanted to share.  But when they opened up the goody box, their teachers would find this —–

Hahaha…..I thought it was such a clever idea!  And they could hardly wait to give it to them!  I swear, they giggled the whole way to school this morning. Ha!

You know how as parents, we’re so proud when our kids follow in our footsteps and develop an interest for reading or traveling or discover a love for a particular sporting event???  Well, I might be the weirdest mom ever, but I think it’s endearing that they want to come up with clever pranks to pull on their friends and family, just like I do. Ha! But let me be clear, we have talked a trillion times that it’s only funny if the other person thinks it’s funny.  So we only trick people if it’s harmless and will cause them to smile/laugh!  If we’re unsure…skip it.

. . . . .

Oh, and since we’re talking pranks……when my kiddos woke up this morning, I told them it was late and they needed to hustle to the kitchen for breakfast.  I also told them I bought some fun cereal at the store yesterday (which is very rare) just for fun, so their bowls of chocolate-y marshmallow Kung Foo Panda cereal was ready and waiting for them…and they were EXCITED!

However, I poured the cereal the night before, added milk, and then placed them in the freezer over night……so their faces were priceless this morning when they tried dipping their spoon into their cereal to take their first highly anticipated bite.  Ooops….frozen solid! ;)

(These faces are a re-enactment, because as you can see, there’s a second bowl of edible cereal that they happily gobbled right up!)

Haha!

And just so you know, Kung Foo Panda was loved by every child this morning (I mean, hello, SUGAR!) and each one of them tried eating the frozen stuff after eating their regular bowl of cereal.  Ewwww!  (Because before it actually froze solid, it became soggy in the freezer.  Yuck!)

Okay, back to normal life blogging friends!  Oh and let me know if you have pulled any pranks on your family today!  Or if you’ve been tricked…..I love hearing what others have done!
