20 NO-COOK Dinner Ideas…great for summer!

When it’s hot outside, the last thing I want to do is turn the oven on.  Or the stove.  In fact, I don’t even want to spend much time in the kitchen at all…but you know the whole hungry children thing.  Yeah, popsicles won’t satiate their hunger for very long. ;)

It’s not that I don’t like cooking in the summer.  The real issue is that I don’t like a hot house.  So adding to the heat of our home in the summer months makes me cranky.  (And so does putting hot food in my belly, when everything around me is so warm.)  So I’ve been trying to make meals lately that don’t require any oven or stove use.  But I’ve been running out of ideas… I started gathering ideas.  And found some really delicious things that I can’t wait to try!  Want to add some ideas to your dinner menu too?

Do you have any favorite No-Cook recipes you want to pass along?  I’d love to hear them!

I really do love this no cook dinner recipes. The summer weather is by far not the best for cooking food in the kitchen. One could feel as is they are being steamed. I love the wraps and the rolls too. I will definitely try them at home that time when one is not in the mood of cooking.

Thanks for sharing these recipes, I’ll definitely try some of the wraps and rolls! When the weather gets too hot around here (I live in the south of France and it can be very hot indeed!), I make a big salad. I cook some sort of carbohydrate because I like my salads to be filling (pasta, rice, couscous, quinoa, potatoes), then I add some vegetables (tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, avocado, onion, whatever I have in the fridge), some sort of cheese (usually feta or mozza, I don’t really like cheese but anything would work really), some protein (tuna, surimi, shrimp, chicken, bacon…) , a simple dressing (olive oil and lemon juice works wonders!), and sometimes some seeds to make it crunchier. And you have a complete meal, easy and quick to get on the table. Enjoy your summer!

Thanks so much for the yummy no cook meal ideas.
Last night I was in a bit of a rush to get dinner done to get to a wedding shower on time. I decided to slice a turkey breast I had purchased from Costco and serve it with a white sliced jack and sliced cheddar cheese. To this I added cold baked beans, a small cluster of purple and green grapes, watermelon, chunks of Costco fresh pineapple, a couple of whole strawberries fresh snap green beans, baby carrots and a wedge of our favorite sour dough bread. Ice cold lemonade hit the spot. We didn’t need a dessert as the fruit was sweet enough without any more sugar added to the meal. The family loved the cold meal and it was just a matter of having those things on hand and placing each item on our plates. I plan to serve that meal again tomorrow since I still a lot of those ingredients on hand. Oh . . . , a little fresh sour cream mixed with a little brown sugar to taste makes a wonderful fruit dipping sauce too. When my son saw his plate of food, he commented” Yum! Can we have hot weather meals like this more often?” Hope you try this maal sometime. Our two and 4 year old grandchildren enjoyed most of the items on the plate as well. Keep cook and gain thanks for the great ideas. Believe it or not, the Seattle area is having hot weather this summer much higher than usual so we need cool no cook ideas as much as anyone this summer.
    In appreciation, Beverly
