I have been so excited to get a little bloggy facelift.
We can all use some freshening up once in a while, right?
You know, a little spring cleaning. Blogs need some spring cleaning too.
My sidebars were getting a little messy, my navigation was getting a little clogged……and well, I just wanted some new color. And I think it’s the time of year, but I can’t get enough of this green and orange. Okay, and the blue too.
However, the process of switching over to this new site and directing everything over, is a little lengthy. I never could have figured it out myself. That’s why I love those web designer minds.
Emily, from June Lily Studio, took on this whole re-design project for me…….and has been incredible. Okay, let me tell you, Emily is a gem. She thinks everything through, finds solutions to delays, keeps me calm, and my gosh, she has got to be one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. (I thought about asking her to move right next door to us……but she’d probably miss her husband and 2 little boys too much. Darn.) She has spent hours and hours helping me and believe me, totally worth every penny.
You may notice that not everything is complete……and that’s because I have some sorting and labeling to do, to make the navigation complete. And also, some things take a bit to transfer over. So no worries, everything will be shiny new and complete in a few days.
But, just to help you out…..and to help you navigate this site a little better…….let me show you a few things.
Up at the top, you’ll find all of those social media links. Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, RSS feed, and to subscribe by email. If you hold your cursor over them, they drop down and bit and show what each symbol is called.
Then, you’ll see there’s a row of pictures towards the top of the blog. Those are 5 of my most recent projects. You know, in case you haven’t been around in a few days….and you want to see what you’ve been missing. You can just click on one of those images………..and then it will take you to the full tutorial.
The menu bar is pretty self explanatory……but I love that you can hover over the tutorial tab and a list of categories will drop down.
And if you click on a category (here or from the drop down menu), like clothing……..
……..you will be directed to a page full of all the tutorials that fall under the clothing tutorial. Then pick one.
(Please note: This section is not yet complete. I am still adding everything into it’s appropriate category, with its corresponding picture, to make it easier. A little time consuming….but it makes it a ton easier to search. Well, it does for me…..hopefully it will help you too. Until this is done, use the search bar to search content, which I introduce below.)
There is also a drop down contact tab, where you can send a question to a specific email address. Keeps things organized. Ahhhh…..
Moving on down…
Do you see that orange tabbed box? Well, if you click on any of those tabs, you will be shown more information.
The first one is an About Me blurb, with a link to “read more” (in case you’re dying to know what shoe size I wear or what I do when I run out of ideas…), then there’s a search tab to try and find something on this blog, then an archive tab to search old posts by date, and lastly……a translate tab. It won’t translate my grammar or fix my punctuation (eek!)……but it will translate into many different languages.
You can also find the link to leave a comment above any post (when it’s in the large view)…….or below each post.
And in case you’d like a new button, there’s an updated one over on that sidebar. Just grab the code and put it on your site. Need help with that? Click here.
Well, that’s about it. I’m so glad it’s done.
Well, mostly…..but the rest is up to me to organize a bit. But I will hurry!!
I hope it’s helpful……and easier to find things. And less cluttery.
Okay, off to clean out my real closets.
Haha……not really, I need a spring cleaning break. Whew.
