Emily Jones Memorial Auction

New tutorial below.
. . . . . . . . . . . .

Real quick…..I have a few items being auctioned off for a great cause. John Jones, a former husband, father and medical student, died while caving in Utah 2 weeks ago during a tragic caving accident. He left behind his wife Emily (expecting next June), and a young daughter. There is an auction being held over at A Daily Scoop where funds are being raised to help Emily and her small family to cover all costs and bills. There is lots to look through (scroll all the way down) and some incredibly beautiful items and services that are being auctioned off. May be worth your time to check it all out. Not to mention, a wonderful cause.

I have donated 2 pairs of my booties…

And a set of 2 of my patterns….

Auction closes December 12th at midnight.

If interested in reading more about this tragic accident, there’s an article here, explaining more of the details.

My prayers are with all those affected by this loss.

This is kind of random because I know it happened a long time ago but I still just wanted to thank you for participating in that auction and blogging about it. I don't know if you knew the Jones family or not, but Emily and I were good friends (she was in my ward here in VA at the time). I showed her your blog long ago and I know she loved it. We had a great time talking about all your fun projects and she helped me pick out fabric for many of the ones I did. Anyway, I found out about the auction thanks to you (she never would have told us. She's very modest) and I can't believe how much money they raised! I know it helped her so much financially as well as just the comfort of knowing so many people cared. So thanks again for being such an inspiration in so many ways!

I cried when I heard he had died. When I went to bed the night before they were saying they would get him out by midnight. I can't believe what his poor wife is going through!

I left you an award on my blog.

What a nice thing to do!! God bless you!!

I don't know the family, but my heart broke when I heard this on the news. Thanks for sharing this link! I kept thinking I wish there was a way I could help, I will have to see if I can get in contact with someone to donate a few items from my shop.

  6. Chelsea says:

ASHLEY! This is so random, my sister who lives in AZ told me about your blog because she loves it, and I laughed when I pulled it up because I KNOW YOU! It felt like I was tight with a celebrity or something. Anyway, I'm excited to check out all your awesome project ideas, you're amazing.

  7. Christine says:

That is so sad what happened to him. I have actually been down in those caves a few times; my dad grew up climbing throughout them and it wasn't until recently that they locked it up and restricted who could go down there. You are so awesome for doing this for them!

  8. Becca says:

Thank you so much for doing this. John & Emily are in my ward here in VA, where he was going to school. We are doing everything we can here, but she can use all of the help (and prayers) she can get.

  9. Inge says:

We were effected by a great loss like this 2 years ago. Every time I see (read) something like this, my heart aches again.

  10. Erin Chavez says:

That is so sweet of you to help out their family. John was my brothers mission ap and I know their family appreciates it. Especially being a wife and mother Emily has a special place in our hearts. Thank you.

  11. Lu says:

Thank you so much for donating Ashley! Your auction items are popular already! I sincerely appreciate it.

  12. Curtis and Dani Welton says:

That is so awesome of you to donate! I'll check out the auction, and our prayers are with the family.

  13. Melanie says:

Great idea to raise money for the family. My husband tossed and turned all night after reading that news story because he nearly got stuck in the same spot a few years back. Our prayers, too, are with that family.

  14. wileyfamilyof5 says:

He was the son of my son's principal. So sad. We are having donations at the school also.
