I’ve gathered a list of 58 DIY sewing projects that are perfect for beginners who want to try something new…and each can be completed in under an hour! Every tutorial includes photographed step-by-step instructions, and only requires very basic sewing tools! The projects are all very budget friendly and many can even be taught to kids learning to sew. I’ve hand sewn hundreds of clothing items, costumes, and gifts for recipients of all ages…and there’s nothing more satisfying than finishing a project and realizing that you really CAN DO IT! Check out these DIY tutorials and you’ll quickly learn how to use all different types of materials, techniques, and styles…..while improving your sewing skills! Do you sometimes wonder how those almost invisible hems are sewn into slacks, at the bottom of curtains, or the hems of high quality dresses? Yeah, even though it looks like it’s probably an advanced skill…it’s NOT!!! All it takes is a few images to wrap your brain around the technique, and then you’ll wonder why you’ve never tried this before! This cute bag is the perfect way to keep all of your wet swimming clothes contained, and away from your dry change of clothes, your towel, or even your phone/electronics. Then once you get home, you can unzip and hang your wet things out to dry! This bag also works great to toss in a diaper bag for those unexpected baby diaper blowouts. Do you have any “How To Train Your Dragon” fans at your house? Well, I have 2 little boys who love everything their older brother (who’s 10) likes….so they LOVE the dragon character “Toothless” from the book/movie series. So I created some Toothless Dragon hoodies, by using already existing fleece jackets. Adding the eyes, horns, wings and tail was fairly simple to do…..but created the most darling little jackets. And whenever Oliver and Max are wearing these jackets while out running errands, I always get asked where I bought them. Nope, I made them! And so can you! :) Installing your first zipper can feel intimidating. And honestly, sometimes your 100th zipper can still feel intimidating. But there are some tips that will really help you get the hang of installing a zipper into a skirt/pants/bag….that make it SOOOO much easier! And then with a little practice, you’ll be a zipper installation pro in no time! :) If you want to see even more sewing tutorials…check out my complete list of DIY Sewing Ideas!
