Did I trick you??

Did you notice yesterday’s post? (found here)
Did you stick around long enough to scroll down and see this picture?
I know there are those of you who took one look at that first picture and sped out of here as fast as your mouse-clicking finger could take you.  Haha!!
Just had to be sure you all know, that nope, there aren’t really tassels on my toilet.  Ick.
(Ewwww, the mess.  And can you imagine the discomfort??)
Thanks for letting me trick you.  I think many of you forgot it was April 1st…….and I’m so glad you did.
I laughed at every. single. comment.
Enjoy your weekend.

You TOTALLY got me. I was sitting there, staring at your fabric wrapped toilet, trying my DARNDEST to figure out some way to give you the benefit of the doubt on not having totally lost it. I was so relieved when I saw the giant "April Fools!" Thanks so much for your wonderful blog!!

  2. Andrea says:

haahaa, I couldn't believe it, and then when I found out it was fake I posted it on a friends FB page as an idea for her bathroom remodel, just to give her a hard time.

  10. The Deelo Family says:

Besides the gross factor, I wondered why the selvage was left on the fabric!

  11. Amy says:

You did trick me at first! I thought that I would "unfollow" this blog because we had VERY different taste and I probably wouldn't be making anything for my home from someone who thought it a good idea to tie bows to her toilet seat! LOL!!! Luckily, I did scroll down and saw that it was a joke. (I wasn't even aware that it was April 1st!) Brilliant!!!

  12. debi says:

  20. RaD says:

No tassels maybe, but what about the ribbon around the tank? Huh?

Yes, you fooled me, but I finished reading and then laughed. I was thinking, hmmm… I wonder if that is a guest bathroom because she has a little boy and ewwww… they are not always the best in the bathroom.

  21. Tara says:

You got me! I'm so glad it was a joke… I was kinda worried u might start a trend!

  22. Larissa says:

I'm catching up on blog reading and just saw the post TODAY, and didn't look at the date on it! I thought you were serious and was in the midst of talking with my husband about how gross and unsanitary it was… and finally realized it was a joke. Freakin' awesome!

  23. Kelly says:

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I took one look and clicked away. I was thinking that's gross! Awesome joke, you're the only one who got me all day!

  25. HollowSquirrel says:

YES! You got me. I was all "NASTY!!" and couldn't believe you'd think that was ok, and I was about to open up an email to send the link to my germophobic friend when I decided to go back and see if your commenters also thought it was insane, and that is when I saw that you were kidding. So, yes, totally hook, line and sinker here. Bravo!

  26. Barbara says:

Yes, you fooled me! Often I look at tutorials on different blogs, and I think, "Well, that's very clever, but why????" This fell into that category. I always fall for April Fool's pranks. I wonder what that makes me? Thanks for a good laugh.

  27. (Nicole) The Very Hungry Caterpillar says:

oh I am so glad. I thought what is she thinking like a hundred times…. I was about to write a comment to pose all the possible problems i found with that, but thought no I do not want to hurt your feelings. Glad I do not have to unsubscribe to you, like I thought I was going to :)
j/k i love all your stuff… minus yesterdays idea.

Yes you tricked me, and YES I clicked away fast!! LOL Good one :)

  33. Jessica says:

Yes, you tricked me, and boy am I glad it was a joke. All I could think was, "I could never do that…I have enough trouble keeping the floor pee-free much less having to worry about fabric on the toilet lid…"

  34. Bev says:

I laughed every time I thought of it. Since I sometimes make toilet paper origami just to give my husband a laugh, I thought this would be a delightful touch. I forwarded the link to your blog to my daughter (mother of 3 little boys with bad aim). I'm always sending decorating ideas to her – and she totally fell for it.

And I'm so glad that you showed us a picture of your decorated pots and pans – since I'm a new follower. Too funny.

When I showed these pictures to my husband, he said, "She could be your friend!!" Evidently he thinks you're as nutty as I am.

I'm SURE he meant it as a compliment. :)

  35. tamela says:

I hadn't fallen for anything, because I just don't believe ANYTHING on Apr 1. If you want me to believe it you have to tell me again on the 2nd. BUT a blog April Fool's craft didn't occur to me and YOU GOT ME!! When you opened the lid, I was saying "ewwww" with the thought of nasty things sticking to it.

  38. marissa says:

bwaa that's one of the funniest jokes I've seen, I love it!

  39. Pam says:

Good one! I even showed my husband the gross toilet seat decorations. I couldn't imagine and wondered what made you come up with something so disgusting! Thanks for the laugh!

yes indeed! I was so grossed out but then I scrolled down. I laughed so hard me kids thought I was nuts and I was crying and thought I might pee in my pants! Great job on april fools!

  49. Tami says:

I read your blog through my google reader on my iPod touch and can only see one picture at a time. When i saw the first one I thought you were crazy! In fact, I was laying in bed and showed my husband and asked him why on earth someone would think to do something like that, it is nuts! I even said to him "the bow is super cute but the tassels? What is she thinking?". The picture Of yhe knots And the comments that you cab wash them was too real for me Then when I scrolled down and realized it was a trick I laughed so hard at myself. Seriously, can you imagine the mess? Oh funny. You got me. In fact, I remember you got me last year too. Last year I remember thinking how it would start a fire and the horrible mess the potholders would be. Know what though? The pot things would be cute on your pans at a potluck or something.
Anyway, I wanted to tell you nice job. You got me.

  50. Laura at Ms. Smartie Pants says:

I thought you had lost your mind! I remember in the 80's when crafting was all the rage people decorated their fly swatters, yes I said fly swatters! I remember thinking we have gone overboard here! Thought you had joined that crowd! lol

  51. The Extra Ordinary Bree says:

So funny… I didn't scroll down to see the rest of the post so I really thought you had tied those things on and called it pretty! I even went as far as to show my husband! Can you imagine what those ties would look like in my house with 3 little boys and a potty training girl? Eeewwwwww!

  52. The Chambs says:

i was a little worried at first at how in the world you had come up with something like that!!! hehehe it was the best joke i've seen. I even told my mom i was making tassels for the toilet and showed her the first picture. Yep. I laughed really hard! Thanks for the joke!

  53. AmyMay says:

I am so glad you were "fooling" about that. I looked at that and though, "ugh, how tacky!" I normally love all your ideas, so I just overlooked it and went on lol.

  54. Sabi says:

Hi! I'm following your blog for quite a while now, but not for a whole year, so I didn't see your post about embelishing your pots, so you fooled me :) I guess I didn't realize it that quickly because here in Portugal ( maybe in the U.S. too), in the 60's and 70's there was this trend to line the toilet seat with plush fabric… So you wouldn't get cold on those Winter nights where you just had to go… Of course people would take them off every once in a while to wash them, but, I don't know, I don't think that's enough… When I was a kid there were still some people who used those fabric covered toiletseats and it just grossed me out when I had to go to the bathroom… I would never sit down! Love your blog by the way, it is a daily stop :) Sabi

  55. Amy's Avenue Blog! says:
