Hahahaha……let me just get a little laughter out of the way. Because I LOVE APRIL FOOLS’ day!! I can’t help but throw in a little humor here on the blog every year on April 1st! Haha.
Many of of you knew right away that I’d be posting something…..so you were ready for it. (Dang you. I need to somehow blast a flash out to everyone that erases the memory of these posts every year.) But others of you were still fooled and realized it at the end of the post. I loved reading your comments and emails about that. Totally cracked me! Others of you probably clicked on my post yesterday (the Tissue Dispenser Necklace) and thought I had gone nuts. And maybe deleted my site forever??? ;)
Anyway….I know the concept is something that everyone can relate to. Because, hello, a runny nose is the worst! But yeah, having my kids run around with an unwinding roll of toilet paper around their necks just for taking pictures — not a good idea!
Okay, okay…..thanks for letting me laugh! And thanks for laughing with me. I’ll be back to normal tomorrow. Promise!
But in case you’re new around here and thought you were the only one I fooled yesterday, check out some of these posts from the past. Plenty of others were fooled too. And believe me, I had just as much fun reading comments and reactions to these posts too.
Last year I made these Pre-Stained Baby Clothes……..yep, that’s ketchup, mustard, and chocolate sauce on there. Because if a baby is already going to make a mess, might as well turn it into art and stop worrying about wearing a bib.
In 2013, I made these Embellished Diapers……because then hey, no diaper covers are needed. And your little one can just run around in her diaper!
In 2011, I made these Chocolate Covered Veggies…….haha! I can still remember the look on my kids’ face when I told them to just try the chocolate covered broccoli. But if you go back and read that post, they actually kind of liked it!!! So funny.
And oh, the year I made Toilet Decorations. Because who doesn’t need a little more fancy in their bathroom!!! Ha…..I remember the comments flooding in about the sanitary issues of this project. Good thing it wasn’t real! :)
And then the very first year I pulled an April Fools’ prank…….the Embellished Easter Pots. You know, because even your pots deserve a little more beauty at Easter dinner. Ha! Since this was the first year, I think many were trying to be kind……but thought I was absolutely wack-o! I mean, come on, FIRE HAZARD!!! ;)
Anyway, that’s all! And you better believe, I’ll start planning now for next year! :)
Here are some of the family friendly April Fools’ Day pranks I pulled on my family last year. SO many funny ideas!
This one was my favorite prank I pulled on the kids. Haha!
And this prank was awesome to pull on my husband!
Okay, I’m done. Thanks for letting me remember all those years of laughs!!
And enjoy your day!

I look for this post every year. And I tell my brothers about them. They’ve started asking what did make it and love it do this year?
Rebecca
I love the tissue necklace. My kids could really use one! I was looking forward to your prank and you did not disappoint!
I missed your project this year! I wasn’t near a computer for a few days, but I was telling a quilting friend about the chocolate dipped veggies and especially about the ruffled disposal diapers – which is my all-time favorite!
I shared the April fools blog with my daughter. We laughed and agreed that her kids could use it sometimes. Loved it.
You definitely got me. I sent it to my mother and daughter telling them that “this woman normally has great ideas. I don’t know what’s gotten into her. What a crazy idea to put toilet paper on a necklace!”.
LOL Glad it wasn’t real.
You are funny girl!!! You got me yesterday. When I saw that little girl with the toilet paper hanging around her neck the first thing I said to myself was “Who in their right mind would do that to a child?!!”, and then I thought you were just a different kind of person. Maybe one of those people who put dog leashes on their kids. I am so happy to hear it was an April Fools joke. I like a sense of humor. Good one.
I know this was a joke but it did give me an idea on how a child or elderly person could keep tissues with them. You could make a travel tissue cover, then mount it to a belt or put a hair scrunchy on it for the wrist.
Whats really funny is that my grandson wants me to make him one so he wont have to stop playing outside and go in for a tissue!!!
Having followed many a toddler with a runny nose, I thought it was a great idea. I knew it was an April Fool’s joke but it is a brilliant one! I sent it to my dil, the 14 month old had a cold this weekend(which I caught) and we all took turns wiping her nose.
you’re a riot
Ashley, I look forward to your April 1 post every year. Didn’t you make a sheet dress one year as well?
On another note will you please post some pics of your new house? I am getting ready to move into our brand-new custom home in a week and I want to get some inspiration from you.
Thank you for keeping this blog!
I can’t believe I’ve been reading your site for so long! My favorite was the decorated toilet, and I thought it was just 2 years ago. Time flies. Thanks for being so fun. I have to remember the chips and duct tape next year, too!
Ty for stating it was a prank. I really was ready to unsubscribe! I thought you went over the deep end and we were witnessing the
leap
Fran – I love your over the deep end phrase! I’ve never heard that last part! And I thought the same thing yesterday “yep, this lady is NUTS”…! Made me love the site that much more :)
This is my first April Fools Day as a follower, so I enjoyed your post today going through the ones of years past! Those embellished diapers are hilarious! As for tissues and allergy season, we use the trick of rubber banding a full tissue box to an empty one so it has a built in trash can. They still need to pick it up and carry it with them though! ; )
YES, you did!!!!
Very good!!!
The duct tape TP cracked me up!
Funny! You did trick me! I should have known. I just thought, wow! That is odd coming from her. And then I remembered that i just turned three of my friends onto your site and wondered what they thought.
Hahaha……sorry! And oh my, I bet your friends thought I was loony. And you too, for referring them! ;) (But thanks for sharing though!!)
Now you’ll have something to chat about!
Ashley
please share what you did with the lays chips, baby carrots and a hot glue gun.. looks interesting
Oh yes, that one is hilarious! There’s more detail on last years post, when I actually pulled that on my children!
