So excited to have Gretchen from Three Little Monkeys Studios here again today, contributing darling Easter Pots. Love these so much!

. . . . .
Easter is coming up fast, and this year we’re the lucky ones hosting. I wanted to create some place settings for our table that were fun for adults and the kids attending, but also easy to put together and budget-friendly. These Chalkboard Easter Basket Place Settings fit the bill.
These guys will help your guests find their seats but they also make the perfect take-home party favors. And even better, I pulled six together in about 30 minutes.
Don’t limit yourself to dinner either. These would also be a cute addition to Easter breakfast or brunch, play dates or even fun decor up on the mantel or a shelf. Oh, and these would also be cute for classroom parties, though I would swap a small plastic or tin container for the terra cotta. (And yes, I’ve included the printable for these little flags down below.)
Hopefully your handwriting is much better than mine, but with a piece of chalk or a handy chalk pen you can add names, write verses, quotes … the options are endless.
Super fun to make and only cost a little over $1 per pot in supplies (depending on the amount of candy you use). Pretty good for something each of your guests can take home with them!
Want to make some too?
You need just a few supplies you can pick up at Michael’s or other hobby/craft store:
- Small (3.5″) terra cotta pots
- Basket fillers (crinkle shreds) in green
- Chalk or a chalk ink marker
- Colored chalkboard paint in Turquoise (or color of your choice)
- Paintbrush
- Easter flags, printed (source below)
- Swizzle sticks, bamboo skewers or paper straws
- Glue dots or double-sided tape
- Chocolate bunny and other Easter candies (eggs, carrots, etc.)
Let’s get started!
1. Paint your pot with your chalkboard paint, applying one light coat at a time. Mix up the direction of your coats each time. For example, apply horizontal strokes, then vertical on the next coat, diagonal on the next, and so on. This will give you a very smooth surface at the end.
2. While your paint is drying, print out your paper flags.Â

3. Then, trim your Easter flags. Wrap your flag around a swizzle stick (as pictured in final image above), a bamboo skewer or a pretty paper straw. Seal closed with a glue dot or double-sided tape.
4. Once your pots are dry, use chalk or a chalk ink pen to write each guest’s name.
5. Now for the fun part – assembly! Put some basket filler in your pot to the top. Stick your flag in the pot. Center it in the back of the pot (this will provide support to your chocolate bunny). Now add your bunny and other Easter candies. I always like to add things in odd numbers for a more pleasing look.
That’s it!
And remember, these are very inexpensive to make. Pots were 2 for $1 at the craft store, the chalkboard paint was $1.29, and the candy and other items were picked up from the dollar store, with the exception of the swizzle sticks (which I had on hand from another project). But if you can’t find any swizzle sticks or would rather not purchase any, cut some wooden skewers or pretty paper straws down to size.
