Create A Time Capsule…from an OLD CAN! ((free printable included))

Today’s contributor is a brand new contributor for 2016, Emma from Crafting{E}!  She is a super darling and incredibly talented 16 year old girl (yes, 16!!) who is still in high school but maintains her own website!  Her site is packed with lots of clever and beautifully captured tutorials, printables, and recipes……and her photography is absolutely stunning!  Did I mention she’s only 16?!  :) I’m so excited Emma has joined us for 2016 and I know you will all love her too!

WELCOME EMMA!  -Ashley

. . . . .

Hello Make It and Love It readers! I’m Emma and I blog over at Crafting{E}. Over at my blog I share recipes, DIY projects, home decor, free printables, and tidbits from my crazy teenager life! I am SUPER excited to be one of the new contributors here on Make It and Love It! I love Ashley and her blog!

Today I am sharing a free printable time capsule just in time for the new year! It is just barely 2016, so what better time to reflect on the previous year than right now?

Time capsules are so fun (and no, I wasn’t being sarcastic :). It is absolutely the best to look back at the past year and see how far you have come!

Documenting my life has always been a favorite pastime of mine. Ever since my very first stuffed animal family photo shoot (that’s a story for another time) I have learned to love reflecting on the positive moments in my life! These time capsules are a great way to do that.

Here’s the deal: at the bottom of the post you can find the links to download the time capsule labels and question sheets. The question sheets contain questions like “What’s your favorite color” or “What is your favorite food” and “What is your favorite memory from 2015”.

Not only are these time capsules a great way to remember the past year, but imagine how fun it will be to open them up in a few years. I will probably laugh. A lot.

Oh and did I mention what a fun family activity these are? This past Sunday my family made ours together. It was such a fun, bonding activity! In case you need a little walk-through of how to assemble these cans, I’ve got you covered ;).

MATERIALS:

  1. 16 oz aluminum can (that only has one side removed – but make sure to keep it)
  2. Labels and question sheet (link to download can be found at the end of the post)
  3. Packing tape
  4. Small objects that represent something from 2015

DIRECTIONS:

  • Fill out the question sheets.

  • tape the lid of the can back on the can using packing tape. I found that it is easiest to create an “X” with the tape to secure the lid
