Sewing Machine Cover

If you have your machine out a lot (or if you always have it out in your, coveted-by-me, craft room), this will help keep the dust away and also any sticky fingers that might reach for it.

I saw this simple idea at marthastewart.com but she used a tea towel. I decided to use some of my own upholstery fabric and measure it out specifically for my machine.

Simple.

So I measured the width of my machine, excluding the knob on the right side. It was 16 inches. And then I measure from the bottom of the front of the machine, up and over to the back, and it measured 27 inches. Then I added an inch to both the length and the width so that each side could have 1/2 inch seam allowance.

First I folded the sided under a 1/4 inch and then another 1/4 inch and sewed this hem in place. Then I did both ends the same way. Then I attached enough ribbon on each side to be able to tie the cover closed. Make sure and heat seal your ribbon so that it won’t fray. (Use a lighter…….it’s quick and easy.)
